Reading a provider’s list price correctly: the conditions nobody quotes

A single number on a pricing page is usually several numbers wearing a coat.

For live models and prices, use the pricing page and marketplace. Dated examples in the Developer Library are planning aids, not quotes.

A single number on a pricing page is usually several numbers wearing a coat: context thresholds, cached input rates, batch tiers, peak and off-peak windows.

Read the conditions

Ask what happens above a context threshold, whether cache reads are priced separately, and whether batch or priority tiers change the rate. A headline figure that ignores those conditions is not wrong so much as incomplete — and incomplete is how budgets blow up.
